KATHMANDU, Aug 31: The government on Tuesday registered a bill in parliament for amendment to the Finance Act 2066 BS to regulate gold import.

The government decided to register the bill as the ordinance brought earlier to regulate gold import will expire on September 3. A cabinet meeting on Monday had taken a decision to table the bill.

The decision comes amid concerns over absence of alternative legal arrangement for the import of gold once the earlier ordinance expires.
