KATHMANDU, Dec 24: In the five months of the current fiscal year (FY), Nepal has imported 1,201 kg of gold worth Rs 9.97 billion. According to the import statistics from mid-July to mid-December published by the Department of Customs (DoC), the import of gold this year has decreased compared to the same period last year.
Till mid-December last year, Nepal had imported 1,466 kg of gold worth Rs 10.75 billion. According to the data, there has been a reduction of 265 kg gold import, which is valued at about Rs 780 million. Till mid-November 1,000 kg of gold was imported into Nepal.
Gold price decreases by Rs 400 per tola
According to the DoC, the amount of imported gold increased by 201 kg worth Rs 1.76 billion only in the month of Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), which is regarded as the heightened time of gold consumption.
