KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The Government of Nepal has given approval to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to mint 150 million coins each with the denomination of Rs 5.


Talking to media persons after the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma informed that NRB has been approved to mint 150 million coins of Rs 5.

Sharma, who is also the government’s spokesperson, said that a cabinet meeting held recently approved the proposal of the Ministry of Finance. She said that the cabinet meeting also approved the cyber security policy.


She said, "On the proposal of the Ministry of Finance, it has been decided to give approval to Nepal Rastra Bank to mint 150 million coins of Rs 5. The cyber security policy has been approved. The bill related to banking offenses and punishment has also been approved for its submission in the parliament.”


She said that the cabinet meeting has also given approval to submit the Bill related to Banking Offenses and Punishment in the Parliament.
