KATHMANDU, May 15: The government has allocated Rs 58.30 million to install medical oxygen gas production plants at three hospitals — Patan Academy of Health Sciences in Lalitpur, Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj and Dadeldhura Hospital in Dadeldhura district amid an acute shortage of the lifesaving gas leading to the deaths of a large number of COVID-19 patients on a daily basis.

Assuming his second innings in the Prime Minister KP Oli-led government, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on Friday approved the aforementioned amount to build the oxygen gas plants at these hospitals. Poudel, who is now busy in drafting the budget for 2021/22, said the next year’s budget will focus mainly on the recovery of the COVID-19 devastated Nepali economy.
