Government rejects Transparency International's recent report on corruption in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The government on Sunday rejected the latest ‘biased’ report by Transparency International (TI) on corruption in Nepal.


Speaking at a press conference organized to brief media about decisions taken by a recent Cabinet meeting, Parbat Gurung, spokesperson for the government, termed the reported as "politically motivated".

"The report is not fair and transparent. It is also politically motivated. In fact, chief of Transparency International, Nepal chapter, himself is biased toward the current government. It is a part of anti-government campaigns run by some interests groups," said Gurung, adding that the government is doing its best to curb corruption.


In its recent report, the TI Nepal said that a total of 84% of people think that government corruption is a big problem in Nepal based on its finding.
