Government preparing to appoint Pradhesh Pramukh

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: The Government is moving ahead with the process of appointing the Pradesh Pramukh or Chief of the State, as representative of the government in every State.

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: The Government is moving ahead with the process of appointing the Pradesh Pramukh or Chief of the State, as representative of the government in every State.


The names for all the seven Chief of State shall be finalized soon by the Council of Ministers, given the near-coming first phase of elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies, according to Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Khagaraj Baral. As provided in Article 163 of the Constitution, the President shall, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, appoint the Chief of the State in each of the seven States.

As the Chief of State will be among others constituting the council of ministers for the State following the elections to the provincial assembly and administer the oath of office to the Chief Minister, the government will be making the recommendations to the President prior to the election.
