KATHMANDU, Dec 29: The government has decided to observe the 22nd Earthquake Safety Day meaningfully. A meeting of the 22nd Earthquake Safety Day main celebration committee held today agreed on issues like the selection of a venue for the main programme, a chief guest for it, the formation of several subcommittees and the expansion of celebration to the State and local level as well.

During the meeting, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa stressed that citizen's security was the state's responsibility and the state policies are focused on the prevention of disasters and minimization of consequences. "Everyone is expected to contribute for the completion of post- 2015 earthquake reconstruction works," he stressed. Nepal remains in a highly vulnerable zone in view of earthquake and when Nepal celebrates the Day, this Day's priorities and goals, policies, programmes and plans should be borne in mind, according to him. ----
