The campus had issued a vacancy announcement notice for nine vacant positions in the administration section on March 13, but the campus appointed individuals close to various political parties in five positions. [break]Likewise, in the other remaining posts, employees already working in the campus administration on daily-wage basis have been appointed.
Of five persons appointed employees through political power sharing, three were selected by the UCPN-Maoist while one each were selected by the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML.
Shanti Lamichhane, wife of Kumar Tipari, who is Gorkha district in-charge of the Maoist has been appointed to the post of senior lab boy while Sarada Panta, wife of Rajanraj Panta, Nepali Congress district municipality in-charge has been appointed as assistant accountant. Likewise and Raju Shrestha, son of Krishna Man Shrestha, CPN-UML´s municipality in-charge, has been appointed as assistant storekeeper, according to a knowledgeable source.
The source also informed that Prabha Acharya, daughter of the former campus chief Ram Chandra Acharya has been chosen for the post of head assistant and Suping Purna Magar, son of the former campus chief Prithivi Raj Pun has been selected for the post of library assistant. Magar and Pun are reportedly close to the UCPN (Maoist).
Similarly, Ranju Acharya, Santosh Shrestha, Ganesh Prasad Shrestha and Purna Kumari Shahi have also been appointed as contract employees. The four were already working in the campus on daily wage basis.
The employees had already been selected for the vacant posts but the campus made their names public only on Sunday evening due to some technical reasons, informed Keshav Singh Dhami, the assistant campus chief.
Dhami also said the employees were selected by a committee headed by Ram Sharan Baniya, the acting campus chief.
As many as 115 individuals had submitted applications for the nine positions. Upon learning that the vacancies were filled through political power sharing, the applicants expressed sadness and anger. "Word had circulated that the appointments would be made on the basis of political sharing and it turned out to be true," said an applicant.
