KATHMANDU, April 18: A diffusion notice has been issued by the INTERPOL against Nepali national Jiban Chalaune who is accused in a gold smuggling case and is absconding.
At the request of the Nepal Police, INTERPOL, The International Criminal Police Organization, issued a diffusion notice against Chalaune. Spokesperson of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police and SP Hobindra Bogati confirmed that a diffusion notice had been issued against Chalaune.

The notice was issued by the INTERPOL at the request of CIB after his involvement in a smuggling case where more than 60 kg of gold was found concealed inside brake shoes.
INTERPOL’s National Control Bureau (NCB), Kathmandu, headed by the Inspector General of Police, had written to the INTERPOL General Secretariat to issue a diffusion notice against Chalaune.
Now authorities will check whether he is hiding in a country listed in the member countries of INTERPOl. If found, the process of deportation and bringing him back to Nepal will commence, the police said.
