A source close to Rana, the director of Galaxy Public School and archrival of Thapa, revealed that Rana would announce her candidacy amidst a function Wednesday.
In 2002, The National Sports Council (NSC), the sports regulatary body in the country, had set up a parallel ANFA under Gita Rana´s leadership in 2000 after Thapa´s ANFA defied NSC instruction not to hold ANFA board election. Later in the year, NSC dissolved Rana´s ANFA on the charge of irregularities and formed a new ANFA with Karma Tsering Sherpa, who later joined Thapa´s ANFA.
