KATHMANDU, May 10: The invention of Ginger, a waiter robot, by Paaila Technology is a milestone in the history of technology in Nepal. It is proof that Nepal is taking definite steps towards the growth of robotics and artificial intelligence.

KATHMANDU, May 10: The invention of Ginger, a waiter robot, by Paaila Technology is a milestone in the history of technology in Nepal. It is proof that Nepal is taking definite steps towards the growth of robotics and artificial intelligence. Ginger is a humanoid service robot that has human-like appearance with the ability of dispensing service to humans. Ginger, being a common and popular ingredient in cooking, was decided as the name of the robot as it is reflective of the restaurant industry.


Technology is about making lives easier and more meaningful. It enables humans to do more and better every day, and it looks like Paaila Technology is here to do that.  In an email interview with Republica, the firm said that it invented Ginger with an aim to provide restaurants with world-class robots to give the modern day customer a wholesome feel of the hospitality industry.

Paailo Technology is a Lalitpur-based technology company which was established in January, 2018. The company offers robots and humanoid service robots with artificial intelligence. It recently delivered a humanoid service robot to Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. Robots invented by this organization are fully automatic, understand human speech, converse in English, show gestures while speaking, and perform face tracking. They come with a setting that recognizes and displays natural and friendly gestures. Ginger will be deployed in Naulo Restaurant which is to open soon in Durbarmarg, Kathmandu, as a fully digital restaurant. 


Paaila is now all set to launch two new robots, Ferry and Pari V 2.0. Ferry is a fully automatic room service robot that can deliver the guests’ orders to their rooms on its own. It can even call the elevator wirelessly and navigate freely around the hotel premises. Similarly, Pari V 2.0 is a general service robot designed to be deployed in a wide range of businesses, hospitals, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, banks and more. Pari 2.0 will be powered with all the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of Ginger with further updates and improvement. 


The organization is looking forward to adding Nepali language capacity in the robots by updating its software. Paaila Technology wishes to expand its robotics and AI business to India and other South Asian markets where such ideas and businesses are still in the nascent stage. It aims to be a global leader in terms of robotics and AI.
