Jyoti Ghimire, the veteran musician, and Prabin Shrestha, vocalist of Arachnids, are set to perform with The Time for “Heaven and Hell: a Tribute to Black Sabbath” on Saturday, September 11, at Bhrikuti Mandap Fun Park.[break]
The drummer, Abhay Krishna Shrestha, plays a little too excitedly with a high tempo, making the other members glance at him and grin. Other than that, all the members are playing with great coherence and spirit.
“It’s great playing with these guys, a fusion of the youth and old,” says Ghimire after practicing Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and “Children of the Grave.” Ajar Krishna Shrestha, guitarist of the band, adds that it is an honor playing with a great legend of the scene like Ghimire.
“Vice versa,” replies Ghimire as fast as he can.

Surrounded on three sides by walls covered with eggshell crates and the fourth holding about a dozen photos of the band at various events, Akshay Krishna Shrestha, vocalist, describes Black Sabbath of being a major influence for them.
“They were the pioneers of Metal, so they are very important,” expresses Rakesh Manandhar, the bassist of the band, while the drummer shies away and stays out of the conversation.
“The guitar riffs of theirs are truly amazing.” says Ghimire, “Even though I’ve been more into blues and rock, metal also has an impression on me.”
Composed of three brothers – Akshay; Ajar, and Abhay – with childhood friend, Rakesh, the band has been in the underground scene for almost seven years.
Apart from just playing rock and metal, the band also has a much appreciated eastern side. Ajar is also a sitar player, while Abhay plays the tabla and studies music together with his brother Akshay at Kathmandu University.
Speaking about the upcoming event, “If organizers are willing, then bands will play with exuberance the music of their idols,” say the group members together.
The concert is set to start from 2 p.m. at Bhrikuti Mandap Fun Park on Saturday.
