LONDON, Sept 20: Gurkha Army Ex-Serviceman's Organization (GAESO), the organization fighting for the rights of Gurkhas, has got its new chairman after 27 years.
Krishna Kumar Rai has been elected as the new chairman of GAESO from the second general assembly of the organization held at the Aldershot-based Empire Hall on Monday. Rai got elected to the post unanimously. GAESO Founding Chairman Padam Bahadur Gurung handed over the chairmanship to Rai for the first time after 27 years.

Rai had earlier served as secretary and vice-president of the organization of the ex-British Gurkha Army. Likewise, Dharma Bahadur Tamang, Manikiranta Bantawa Rai, Jit Bahadur Rai, Bhakta Bahadur Gurung, Kamala Gurung, Chetrakala Rai and Tirkha Bahadur Pun were elected as vice-chairmen of the working committee.
Similarly, Dasharath Rai was elected general secretary, Om Bahadur Gurung secretary, Raga Prasad Purja joint secretary, Devi Maya Pun treasurer and Lalkumari Gurung and Kusum Tamang were elected joint treasurers. The general assembly also endorsed the revised statute of GAESO. The newly-elected Vice-chairman Tamang said that as per the revised statute, the working committee will have 129 members.
