“Our compatriots in the UK have been staging a relay hunger strike since October 25 but the British government is turning a blind eye. If they don´t call the UK-based struggling committee members for talk anytime soon we will unveil our protests in Nepal as well,” said Thalang.

The protest in the UK had intensified after British politician Rob Wilson said that the talks regarding their demands are still in the initial stage.

“At that point we realized that the former assurance of British Prime Minister David Cameron was just dilly-dallying,” Thalang to Republica.

According to Thalang, they will step up their protest by going on a fast-unto-death from November 7, exactly from 1 PM, if the UK government doesn´t consider their demands.

The demands of the committee includes the distribution of UK government standard pension amount to the former Gurkha soldiers, compensation, permanent residency for the children above the age of 18 of ex-servicemen, free medical treatment as well as a provision to receive pension for their family members living in Nepal.
