KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The German Embassy in Nepal marked the Day of German Unity alongside the 66th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Germany with a grand celebration at the Hyatt Regency in Bauddha, Kathmandu on Thursday. Hosted by Dr Thomas Prinz, the German Ambassador to Nepal, and his wife, Anuza Prinz, the event welcomed over 400 guests, including Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav as the chief guest.
The celebration also highlighted 50 years of GIZ’s presence and 61 years since the establishment of KfW in Nepal. Both organizations, as part of German Development Cooperation, have played pivotal roles in providing technical and financial cooperation to Nepal.
Nepal and Eritrea establish diplomatic relations
According to a press statement issued by the embassy, Ambassador Prinz reflected on 34 years of German unity and praised the strong bilateral relationship between Nepal and Germany in his speech. He emphasized Germany's continued support during Nepal’s challenging times, including the civil war, the 2015 earthquake, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent floods. A minute of silence was observed for the victims of last week's floods and landslides. Ambassador Prinz also announced Germany’s pledge of EUR 100,000 to aid flood victims.
The event was attended by officials from various ministries, political leaders, diplomats, civil society members, and businesspersons.
