German national dies of altitude sickness

MUSTANG, April 1: A German national died of altitude sickness in Muktinath VDC of Mustang.

Julia Siwalt, 46, who went for trekking via Manang, lost his life, informed Chief District Officer Narahari Baral.


Julia, who was landed at a hotel in Muktinath, saw excessive bleeding from her mouth since Sunday evening before she went unconscious. She breathed her last on the way to District Hospital Jomsom on Monday morning.

A team of four tourists including Julia had left for round Annapurna trekking and sight-seeing of panoramic mountainous landscape from Manang.



"Julia also saw high blood pressure. It is because of long trekking along the high altitude route", CDO Baral added.
However, the condition of three others is normal. RSS
