The locals were forced to purchase fuel across the border in India after petrol pump stations remained close over the past five months due to the ongoing protests of the agitating Madhesi parties.
Locals and farmers lined up outside Tara Oil Stores at Gaur waiting for their turn.
One of them, Meghu Sah, wore smiles on his face when he received diesel after a long wait. "After five months, I've received fuel from a Nepali petrol pump at cheaper price," he said.
According to local farmers, they were in dire need of fuel for irrigation. The farmers standing in queue were seen impatiently waiting for their turn since Sunday night.
Nanimat Mahato said that he faced hassles just to fetch fuel from nearby Indian oil stores. "Though in small quantities, we've finally received fuel," he said. Local farmers, especially those who produce sugarcane, are still forced to purchase fuel at higher price.
