Garbage row erupts again

KATHMANDU, July 13: Locals living in areas near the Okharpauwa landfill site obstructed 16 vehicles of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) that were heading to the site to dispose garbage for three hours on Tuesday.



The locals of Okharpauwa VDC-8 in Nuwakot obstructed the vehicles demanding that 700 meters of road from Aletar to Chaletar be gravelled.



They agreed to let the vehicles dump the garbage after they were assured of meeting their demand by the metropolitan city. KMC assured them of gravelling the road as soon as possible, according to chief of the Environment Section at KMC Ravin Man Shrestha.
