KATHMANDU, July 21: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has requested all concerned people not to take out the waste generated from houses, shops and businesses for the next seven days.

A meeting of the Garbage Management Committee (GMC) chaired by the KMC Mayor Balen Shah on Wednesday took a decision to his effect in order to facilitate construction of the road leading to Banchare Danda.

As the Department of Urban Development sent a letter to the metropolis on July 19, mentioning difficulty of constructing a road in Sisdol Valley due to movement of garbage transporting vehicles, the GMC meeting discussed the matter in detail. The meeting decided to stop the work of transporting waste from the road to the landfill site for seven days.

Meanwhile, the metropolis has requested residents of Kathmandu Valley to manage waste by themselves during the period. The metropolis has requested all to not dispose of the waste generated from houses, shops, and businesses in public squares, streets and public places and keep them separately at home for the time being.
