GANDAKI, Dec 3: Rs 50,000 will be provided as relief to the families of the patients in Bardaghat-Susta East of Nawalparasi who died of COVID-19 through the program of Health Directorate under the Ministry of Health and Population of Gandaki Province Government.
According to the chief of Nawalpur District Health Office, Keshav Chapagain, the information has been issued with the objective of providing financial assistance to the victims’ families. “If a permanent resident of Nawalpur dies due to the coronavirus while undergoing treatment at any hospital, his family will be provided financial assistance," Chapagain said. “However, the families of those who died at home from the virus will not get any financial assistance.”

Chapagain said that the relief would be provided from next week as the money has already been disbursed. At least 170 people have died in the district due to the virus so far. Payment will be made within two weeks of completion of the process and submission of the required documents. The documents include the report of COVID-19 positive of the deceased, death certificate issued by the hospital, a copy of the death certificate, the document showing the relationship of the close relative (who is claiming the financial assistance) with the deceased along with his/her Nepali citizenship certificate.
According to the office, the families of 20 victims have completed the process and applied for the assistance so far. Individuals can apply directly to the health office for financial assistance.
