KATHMANDU, June 28: The Gandaki Province Government has directed electric vehicle (EV) sellers in the province to install three fast EV charging stations by mid-December, this year.
In May, the provincial government had decided that vehicle registration for entrepreneurs selling EVs would be only permitted after they establish fast charging stations in the province.
Following the instruction, entrepreneurs who did not establish charging stations were unable to sell EVs. Therefore, they demanded some time from the provincial government stating that establishing a charging station will take some time.
According to the entrepreneurs’ demands, the instruction will be implemented only from mid-December as it will take time to establish a charging station. The provincial government has asked EV sellers to register vehicles complying with the current process, following which entrepreneurs can sell EVs till mid-December. However, three fast charging centers must be established by mid-December, one each by each of the three new EV sellers in the province.
