POKHARA, April 11: The Gandaki Province Chief Minister (CM) Khagaraj Adhikari has split two provincial ministries to accommodate all coalition parties in the Cabinet. With this, the number of ministries in the province has increased from seven to nine.
Hari Bahadur Chuman, the spokesperson for Gandaki Province Government and minister without portfolio, stated that the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to split two ministries.
Earlier, when Adhikari was the Chief Minister on March 9, 2023, he had decided to reduce the number of ministries from 12 to 7. The recent move to increase the number of ministries to nine is seen as a strategy to save his government.
According to Chuman, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been formed after splitting the Ministry of Social Development and Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, respectively.
Along with this, the meeting of the Council of Ministers has appointed Krishna Adhikari from Lamjung as the Chief Attorney of Gandaki Province.
