KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Federation of Women Entrepreneurs' Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) has concluded its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The best chapter award and the best employee award were distributed in a function organized in the capital under the chairmanship of Acting President of FWEAN Shova Gyawali. Chitwan bagged the best chapter award followed by Morang, Kaski and Khotang while Jivesh Shrestha was awarded the best employee.
Speaking at the program, Acting President Gyawali said that the four main objectives of the FWEAN are advocacy on the issues of women entrepreneurs, capacity building, supporting and expanding access to the businesses of women.

She said, "In the face of discrimination based on gender and caste, inequality and differences based on education, economic conditions and other factors, FWEAN is empowering women through entrepreneurship with the belief that economic freedom helps to reduce inequality and discrimination."
Women's businesses are limited to informal, micro and small industries. In order to boost such small enterprise business, the FWEAN has decided to implement the concept of Business Development Center (BDC) by taking into account issues such as women entrepreneurs-friendly policies, opportunities for capacity building, financial access and market management. The FWEAN believes that the BDC program will not only support women in entrepreneurship but will also help to sustain institutional development.
In the program, FWEAN General Secretary Maha Lakshmi Shrestha presented the annual report while the annual accounting report was presented by Treasurer Kundam Pokharel. Darshana Shrestha gave the vote of thanks in the AGM. Founder of FWEAN Shanti Chadda, former Presidents Chhaya Sharma, Pramila Rizal, Sharda Rizal and Rita Simha were among those present in the program.
