To be in the spotlight or to be well known is a completely relative factor. It’s not always for good reasons one gets popular, sometimes it’s the not so pleasant things behind the fame. Case in point, Rebecca Black.

The thirteen-year-old has become a huge internet phenomenon, with her song “Friday”. Its visual is currently the most disliked video on youtube.com, even beating Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in the category. [break]

Since everyone loves to criticize, word about its terribly cheesy lyrics and the low budget video spread like wildfire. We may want to excuse Black considering her young age but it’s definitely a lesson to be learnt for all grown-ups with bad music making skills. Criticisms aside, it’s time to unravel some music that just made our way and is sure to gain recognition for good quality.

Nicole Scherzinger is a fine example of translation from group success to solo stardom. The Pussycat Dolls, lead lady is all set to release her debut album, titled “Killer Love”. It’s a mixture of faux-raunchy Euro dance, earnest balladry and a sting duet. The latest cut from the disc is called “Don’t Hold Your Breath”. The punchy dance track lies in a simple, neat framework, something different from her usual group material. And your opinions about the singer will not matter; you’ll love the songs anyways!

Californian band Lifehouse, has always been a favorite of many due to their hit “Hanging by A Moment”- a tune most music lovers couldn’t help but hum, and since then, not a single release from the guys have gone unnoticed. Now that the rockers have come up with a new single, it sure is a treat for alternative rock music fans. “Falling In” is taken off their current album “Smoke and Mirrors” and features Lifehouse’s signature soft rock melodies and beautiful words.

Best known for their hits, “Hey There Delilah” and “Rhythm of Love,” Plain White T’s return to the airwaves with yet another mid-tempo rhythmic single. In other words, get ready to fall in love with their adorable catchy tune. “Boomerang” is the fresh new track the quartets have to offer us from their disc “The Wonders of The Younger”! And as the title may suggest, it is about love that keeps coming back. Music wise, the band has emerged out of their comfort zone to an extent.

Bieber fever is in the air again! It’s a brand new collaboration that sees Justin Bieber diverting from his pop/rap theme, teaming up with the country trio Rascal Flatts. “That Should Be Me” is a romantic ballad that will certainly create a buzz and even emerge as a current favorite love song for many. The single without the group was originally included in Bieber’s “My World 2.0” album but the new version appears on the soundtrack album of his hit documentary “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never”. In recent ground breaking Bieber news, the Canadian pop star confessed that his voice was breaking and also added that he has a great vocal coach who’s helping him through the change. Hence, we can breathe a collective sigh of relief!

In 2009, what sounded like a simple tune upon its release became a huge smash hit- That was “Fireflies” and now, Adam Young a.k.a. Owl City is back with a new album that could garner yet another unforgettable hit. “All Things Bright And Beautiful” is what it’s called and outlining the album as the first single is “Alligator Sky”. Unlike the singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist’s previous materials, the track is collaboration. Rapper Shawn Chrystopher is the surprising element in it. It may sound a little similar to B.oB. and Bruno Mars Collaboration “Nothin On You” but all in all, “Alligator Sky” is an absolute audio pleasure.

It has been quite some time since we felt the presence of Adam Lambert. And if you have been missing him, there is good news! The glam rocker comes back with a bang. His latest single is called “Sleepwalker” whose likeability grows even more, once you find out the person Lambert has worked with on the new material. A Republic front man Ryan Tedder co-wrote the track and “Sleepwalker” isn’t the only thing the singer is set to release. The American Idol runner-up is presently busy putting the finishing touches on his upcoming sophomore album.

While some are probably disappointed at him for trading hardcore rap, for mainstream hip hop/dance, many are actually accepting the new sound of Snoop Dogg. The ultimate doggfather is soon dropping his album “Doggumentary” like it’s hot. “Boom” is the recently released single from the collection, heading towards success, the rapper gained through his 2007 hit “Sensual Seduction”. It also features the king of Auto tune, T-Pain.

Jessie J is the best singer of the moment according to Justin Timberlake and according to me, the UK version of Lady Gaga! But of course, the British newbie has her own sense of style. She has not even been around for long and I personally get excited every time she releases a song. Her latest effort happens to be the fourth single from her debut effort “Who You Are”. The singer takes the most common song title and presents it in a unique way for “Nobody’s Perfect”. One careful listen to it and you’ll find yourself drenched in the soulfulness of Jessie J’s voice.
