The second last concert of the Kathmandu Jazz Festival 2012, or Jazzmandu, Jazz at Patan took place at the Patan Museum on Tuesday with musicians gathering to jam with the Nepali classical musicians and creating a magical sound that mesmerized the crowd till the end.[break]
Hosted by Sapna Thapa, the evening saw a crowd from all walks of life. The power cut of almost half an hour during the concert didn’t deter the musicians on stage from entertaining, and in fact, they stepped in an impressive and exciting horns improvisation act and a perfect tempo with Navin Chhetri of the Cadenza Collective.
Soon, Tito Puente Jr., who was in the audience, went on stage to join in with the musicians for an added flavor to an evening of musical enjoyment.
“I think the bands were amazing and, even during the load shedding, they sounded fantastic even without the microphones. It was, in one word, fantastic,” said Suyog Shrestha, a Jazz enthusiast, after the concert.
The evening ended with a standing ovation from the crowd.
