Nepal started observing International Women’s Day 34 years ago, commemorating a significant occasion that underscores the united commitment to human rights and the ongoing pursuit of gender parity. The theme for Women's Day this year (March 8) is "Invest in women: Accelerate progress," complemented by the campaign theme, "Inspire Inclusion”. In celebration of the 34th International Women’s Day in Nepal, Republica has curated a collection of 34 inspiring stories showcasing unwavering courage, resilience, and empowerment of women below the age of 34. These stories are not merely personal; they wield a profound impact, shaping the lives of those who share them. They unfold as tales of courage, resilience, and empowerment.

Rabina Budha, 29, hails from Jumla Headquarters Chandannath Municipality-5, Kalekholi, where she runs 'Sandesh and Janesh Pauroti Udyog,' a business that specializes in producing breadcrumbs and chowmein. Thanks to her efforts, these products reach the market, with an elderly woman from Hurimohari village in Patarasi Rural Municipality-3 being a regular seller, vending chowmein and bread rolls worth Rs 20,000 – Rs 30,000 daily.

Reflecting on her journey, Budha recalls the initial worries about making ends meet before starting the factory. However, with determination and hard work, she has achieved success over the past three years. Budha's hands-on approach includes driving an auto rickshaw herself to transport the goods to the market, ensuring smooth operations.

At her factory, various items like bread rolls, cream rolls, bread, and chowmein are produced. By managing labor costs and optimizing raw material procurement, Budha has been able to save around Rs 1 million annually. Her husband, Dil Bahadur, also plays a crucial role in the business, supporting Budha tirelessly day and night.

For Budha, entrepreneurship is not just about passion but also about determination and the unwavering support of her spouse. “With hard work, success can be achieved even in one's own backyard,” she says.
