As part of the tactics to pressure the government for the implementation of the agreement signed with them in the past, the one-day chakkajam programme was called, said Dang Freed Kamiya Society.
The strike threw vehicular movement in Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur out of gear. Though vehicles plied partially in short routes in Dang, traffic movement in the other districts came to a standstill.
Even though the government in 2057 and 2059 BS conducted details of freed Kamiyas, 5,047 are still left behind, said Society President Sunesh Chaudhary.
"We have been demanding the freed Kamiyas should be rehabilitated within the stipulated time as mentioned in the agreement," he added.
