EC deploys its 15 staffs at JEMC
The EC on Monday decided to deploy three teams led by joint secretaries to inspect if the work of ballot papers printing for proportional representation electoral system at Janak Education Materials Center is going on smoothly.
JEMC has been printing ballot papers for the proportional electoral system in three different shifts from Saturday. The chief election commissioner said a five member team led by EC joint secretary will inspect printing of the ballot papers in each shift.
“They will monitor overall work at JEMC including whether printing of the ballot papers is on schedule and quality is being maintained,” added Uprety.
The state-owned JEMC is entrusted with the task of printing 15 million ballot papers for the proportional representation electoral system.
A polling center can be spaced out into two sections if needed
The commission also decided that if a polling center is too far for the elderly and the disabled, it can be spaced out with some of the ballot boxes located at a place convenient for such voters.
“But this will be very rare as there should be strong justification for doing so and all political parties must arrive at consensus for this,” said the chief election commissioner.
The EC has already decided to set up 10,017 polling locations and 18,484 polling centers for the upcoming CA election.
