Four houses burnt, 7 injured

DHANKUTA, Feb 19: Four houses have been gutted down in a fire in Hile, some 10 kilometers north of district headquarters of Dhankuta, on Saturday evening.



Seven locals have sustained serious burns while attempting to douse the fire, which broke out from the kitchen of Taplejung hotel run by Nabin Karki. [break]



The injured have been identified as Sanjay Mahato, Kedar Khati, Santosh Tamang, Arjun Sangraula, Matrika Chaulagain, Dilliman Limbu and Makar Bahadur Darlami.



They have been rushed to District Hospital of Dhankuta and Hile polytechnic for treatment. According to locals, they were injured when a gas cylinder exploded after catching fire.



Houses belonging to Nabin Karki, Makar Darlami, Netra Budhathoki and Hem Bahadur Budhathoki were completely damaged in the fire. Eight families, including four tenants, have been displaced after the incident.



It took the Nepal Army (NA) soldiers from the number 2 brigade in Hile and locals an hour to douse the fire.
