KATHMANDU, July 9: Nepal Police has apprehended a group of chain snatchers from Kathmandu.
According to SSP Manoj KC, those arrested are Umesh Chhetri, Rabi BK, Rabin Damai and Rahul Majhi.
KC said this group has stolen eight chains from pedestrians over the past month.
Gold-chains snatchers land in police net
“These people would snatch people's chains and run away. There were many cases and when we got a clear picture of them on the CCTV, we arrested them,” said KC.
Chhetri managed the group, said KC. Chhetri was released on bail after being charged with stealing a motorbike.
"They used stolen motorbikes, changed the number plates and used to steal things," said KC.
Police have also confiscated stolen gold from the group. Further investigation is underway, police said.
