Those arrested were Harka Gurung, Senate Shrestha, Sharada Shrestha and Deepak shrestha who were selling Nepal film and song CDs by copying them, said Police Inspector of the District Police Office Dhankuta, Anil Poudel.[break]
Police also seized 800 CDs including that of Nepali films and songs and some empty as well as four computers.
They were raided after petition was filed against them by the Film Producers Association and music companies.
This was the first time that market was raided on this. OG Music Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Dipu Basnet, BK Films Pvt. Ltd. Market Manager Binod Thapa and Bikram Neupaney had come to Dhankuta for filing the petition.
They can get six months to one year in prison or Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 100,000 of fines or both as per the copy rights law.
