Four arrested on charge of selling banned energy drink containing caffeine

KATHMANDU, July 21: The Metropolitan Crime Division of Nepal Police has arrested four people on the charge of selling banned energy drinks containing caffeine.

KATHMANDU, July 21: The Metropolitan Crime Division of Nepal Police has arrested four people on the charge of selling banned energy drinks containing caffeine.


The selling of energy drinks containing caffeine is restricted in Nepal.

According to a press statement issued by the Division, acting on a tip-off that some stores are selling illegal energy drinks, police arrested four individuals from New Road, Sinamangal, Old Baneshwar, Kapan and Gotthatar in Kathmandu. “These people were found selling Red Bull (Blue color) in the area.”


The police also confiscated 202 boxes of Red Bull energy drinks.


It has been learnt that all these energy drinks were imported from India illegally.


The people arrested have been identified as Rabi Raj Shrestha, 44, proprietor of Pranav Store at New Road, Raju Poudel, 36, of Kohalpur Municipality-9 of Banke district, Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, owner of Shaktimata Store at Kapan and Birendra Chaudhary, 36, of Haripur Municipality-1 of Sarlahi district.
