KATHMANDU, June 6: Intra-party, bilateral and multilateral talks among the coalition partners on giving full shape to the government have faced a roadblock after a ´vertical split´ in Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF). [break]

Confusions have reigned even those leaders who were prepared to join the government after MPRF central committee decided to withdraw the support for the government.

"Even those friends who were expected to be inducted into the cabinet are now in trouble. Therefore, we are in a wait-and-see situation over finalizing portfolio allocation," said Yuvaraj Gyawali, secretary of CPN-UML.

According to him, UML and Nepali Congress (NC) leaders on Friday tentatively settled sharing of major portfolios between the two main coalition partners. Though they are yet to reach a final agreement on the allocation, there are no major differences between the two parties, according to him.

Following NC-UML agreement, leaders were planning to intensify talks with other parties and to share the ministries at once. "But, the division in the MPRF made the situation confused," Gyawali said.

The NC has already sent six leaders to the cabinet but the ministers are yet get portfolios.

According to a MPRF central member, leaders from the party have decided to talk to other parties on portfolio sharing after resolving the intra-party problem. "We will first concentrate to resolve the intra-party problem," said Upendra Jha, an MPRF leader close to Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar.

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal´s own party, CPN-UML, has also not finalized names of its leaders to be inducted into the cabinet albeit Bidya Bhandari and Surendra Pandey have joined the cabinet as defense minister and finance minister, respectively.
