KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Friday morning met senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging a hunger strike demanding the government bring reform in the medical sector.
During the visit, Dr Yadav said the demands presented by Dr KC are for the people and the government needs to save his life.
Dr KC has been staging his 19th hunger strike demanding the government to bring reforms in the medical sector. KC, who has put forth a six-point demand with the government, has been admitted at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital after his health condition worsened.
Dr KC’s health condition is deteriorating recently, according to doctors involved in his treatment.
Although people are exerting pressure on the government through street protests to meet his demands, the government has already said that the demands put forth by Dr KC are already fulfilled. While stating that a few other demands raised by Dr KC are in the process to be implemented, the government has also requested Dr KC to withdraw the hunger strike.
