Former President Bhandari expresses grief over Air India plane crash

Taking to a social networking site on Friday, former President Bhandari said she was saddened by the news about death of 241 people out of 242 on board the Air India plane AI-171, which was flying to London from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport of Ahmedabad, India, in the crash.

KATHMANDU, June 13: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed sorrow over the plane crash that occurred in Gujarat, India on Thursday.



Taking to a social networking site on Friday, former President Bhandari said she was saddened by the news about death of 241 people out of 242 on board the Air India plane AI-171, which was flying to London from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport of Ahmedabad, India, in the crash.  


"I am deeply saddened by the news about the death of then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, who extended warm hospitality to me when I visited Gujarat in the course of an official visit to India during my tenure as President," she wrote.

Former President Bhandari paid tribute to former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Rupani, students of BJ Medical College hostel, locals and passengers and crew members who lost their lives in the plane crash. 


Expressing deep condolences to the bereaved family members, she wished a speedy recovery to the injured ones.
