LUMBINI, Aug 11: Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) Dr Baburam Bhattarai has demanded the formation of a strong and impartial commission to investigate major corruption cases.

Former Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai argued that action should be taken in a structural way instead of booking individuals to root out corruption cases.

Addressing a press conference organized in Butwal on Friday, Dr Bhattarai argued that the formation of a high-level and impartial investigation commission is required as the country’s chief executive himself is under public scrutiny.

On the Lalita Niwas land scam, Dr Bhattarai said that he is ready to cooperate as the Supreme Court has directed carrying out investigations against him. "A little decision might have been made during my time. This was not my personal matter. I am ready to give my statements," he said.

Dr Bhattarai also said that his party is moving ahead to fulfill the need of a new and alternative force in the country.
