KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Former Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Hitendra Dev Shakya, has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court challenging the government’s decision to transfer him.

The Cabinet had removed Shakya from the NEA and created a special position for him at the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising has been accused of acting out of revenge against Shakya.

Shakya’s writ, registered on Monday, claims that his removal was illegal. The court has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday.

Earlier, the KP Sharma Oli-led government had dismissed Ghising from the NEA on March 24, appointing Shakya as MD in his place.

After joining the current government, which holds three ministerial portfolios, including MoEWRI, Minister Ghising decided on September 21 to remove Shakya from the NEA and transfer him to the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat.
