KATHMANDU, May 2: Police have arrested former parliamentarian Indrajit Rai for his alleged involvement in sending Nepalis to the United States in the guise of Bhutanese refugees.
Rai was nabbed from Saukhel in Lalitpur this morning, according to chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Minbhawan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Manoj Kumar KC.

Rai, who also served as a security advisor to the then Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa, has now been kept at the Police Range, Kathmandu.
Police held him after news about Rai's involvement in sending Nepalis to the USA in the guise of Bhutanese refugee was published and broadcast.
Earlier police arrested five people on the same charge. Sandesh Sharma of Dang, Keshav Dulal and Sagar Rai of Morang, Sanu Bhandari of Lalitpur and Kumar Gurung of Panchthar were arrested, said SSP KC.
