Former DIG enters politics

KATHMANDU, March 19: Parvati Thapa, former DIG of Nepal Police has entered politics. She has joined Upendra Yadav led FSFN.

KATHMANDU, March 19: Parvati Thapa, former DIG of Nepal Police has entered politics. She has joined Upendra Yadav led Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal (FSFN).


Prakash Adhikari, the deputy general secretary of FSFN confirmed Thapa’s entry in the party.

Thapa was the first woman police officer who had qualified to become the Inspector General of Police. However, Upendra Kanta Aryal, 11 months junior to Thapa, was appointed as the IGP.  


Thapa then had fought a court case against the government for refusing to promote her to the post of Additional Inspector General and eventually to the post of IGP.
