The Special Court found that Aryal had acquired movable and immovable property worth Rs 66, 02,530 from undisclosed sources while he served in the government offices from 1966 to 1999.

In 2004, the same court had acquitted Aryal, citing statute of limitations. The Special Court, which deals with corruption cases, reopened the case following an order from the Supreme Court in 2011. The apex court had returned the case to the Special Court for fresh trial.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against Aryal on November 26, 2003, accusing him of amassing property worth Rs. 26,081,561 from unknown sources.
