KATHMANDU, Dec 13: Special Court has sent former chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Dip Basnyat to judicial custody on his alleged involvement in Lalita Niwas land scam.
A joint bench of Special Court's Chief Prem Raj Karki, justices duos Abdul Aziz Musalman and Nitya Nanda Pandey ordered police to take the former chief of the anti-graft body to judicial custody for further investigation. The Special Court has allowed the government authorities to keep Basnet in custody until a final verdict on the Lalita Niwas land scam is made.
Jewelers sent to judicial custody for financial fraud
The CIAA had earlier filed a graft case against Bennet, alleging that he had involved in corruption when he was serving as Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Works. The CIAA has accused him of involvement in corruption amounting to Rs 96.57 million.
