Former Chief Election Commissioner Shah no more

KATHMANDU, Aug. 3: Former Chief of the Election Commission Sundar Prasad Shah passed away late on Sunday. Shah was 83.

The former chief election commissioner was suffering from throat tumor since long and he passed away while undergoing treatment at Norvic International Hospital, said Shah's son Sanjeev Prasad Shah.Shah had served as Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Home Ministry.

After getting retirement from civil service, he also served as a Treasurer at the Pashupati Area Development Trust and Standing Committee Member at the then Royal Council (Rajparishad) and Chief Election Commissioner. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

The last rites of Shah were performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat today. RSS
