Foreign nationals can now go to third countries via Nepal

KATHMANDU, August 23: Foreign citizens will now be able to go to third countries through Nepal.


On April 26, 2021, departure from the Tribhuvan International Airport to third countries was banned. However, there was no restriction for people to take transit inside the airport.

According to government spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Karki, the Cabinet meeting held on Monday lifted the ban so that foreign nationals can land in Nepal and go to any third country from here.


The government had to take such a decision last year when Indian citizens would come to Nepal and go to Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
