Addressing the ongoing party's central committee meeting on Sunday, Dahal informed party leaders that such forces are proposing him to lead the next government after dissolving the present alliance.
If the UCPN (Maoist) is not ready to lead the new government, Dahal said, the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) is likely to join the KP Oli-led government, forcing the UCPN (Maoist) to quit the existing coalition, a party central committee member quoted Dahal as saying at the meeting.
“Those forces are scheming to push the Maoists outside the government and form a new coalition under NC-UML partnership,” the member quoted Dahal as saying. “It is up to us to decide whether to accept their proposal. This is an issue for discussion in our party.”
In his four hour-long speech, Dahal expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the present government and of the ministers from the UCPN (Maoist). “Performance of the government seems to be very ineffective, and the ministers from our party also have failed to meet expectations,” said Dahal, directing the ministers to put in more effort to improve the image of the party.
The UCPN (Maoist) chief sought suggestions and feedback from all sections of the party for improving the performance of Maoist ministers in the government.
He had earlier sought comments from party members about the government's performance. After receiving the feedback, he added a chapter on the government in his political paper. “However, the paper was silent about the CPN-UML and other partners in the government,” said the party leader, requesting anonymity.
Meanwhile, the general convention of the UCPN (Maoist) has been proposed for some time in March or April, 2017.
Responding to questions raised by party leaders, Dahal proposed the general convention of the party for 2017 and claimed that the party's ideological line will become clearer after the jamboree.
The UCPN (Maoist) is planning to strengthen the party organization before launchig an ideological discourse in the party. At the party central committee meeting on Sunday, Dahal stressed concentrating all-out efforts on rebuilding the party following the exit of Baburam Bhattarai and some other senior leaders recently, according to party spokesman Dinanath Sharma.
The party is planning to form seven state committees as per the seven provinces proposed in the new constitution and appointing the heads and members of each committee on Monday.
