NEPALGUNJ, Jan 28: Flights from Nepalgunj Airport to Kathmandu, Pokhara, and various Himalayan and hilly districts have been suspended for two days. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Office in Nepalgunj reported that heavy fog since Saturday morning has hindered flight operations.

For air travel, a minimum visibility of 1,600 meters is required, but the current visibility has dropped to only 7 to 8 meters, making flights impossible. As a result, passengers have been left waiting at the airport, hoping for an improvement in the weather.

Approximately 1,000 passengers are stranded in Nepalgunj due to the flight cancellations over the past two days. Those traveling to Kathmandu for medical treatments are particularly affected.

Nepalgunj Airport serves various airlines with different destinations: three flights by Buddha Air, two by Shree Airlines, and one by Yeti Airlines to Kathmandu. Similarly, Nepal Airlines, Summit Air, and Tara Air operate flights from Nepalgunj to Mugu, Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, and Bajura.
