KATHMANDU, August 15: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has expressed sorrow over the demise of senior literary figure and journalist Madan Mani Dixit today.
Dixit died on Thursday morning. He was rushed to Himal Hospital at Putalisadak after he fainted at his residence, but the doctors announced him dead in no time.
FNJ general secretary Ramesh Bista, in a press statement, paid due respect to his contribution in the field of journalism.
Dixit was suffering from heart, kidney and respiratory complications.
He has penned nearly 46 literary books in different genre of Nepali literature. Some of them are 'Madhavi', 'Rigveda" Kehi Pramukh Sukti' and 'Gas Chamberko Mrityu'. He also received several significant awards and honors, including Madan Puraskar, Sajha Puraskar and Padmashree Puraskar for his outstanding contributions to the Nepali literary world. He was born at Gaihridhara, Kathmandu on Falgun 6, 1979 BS.
He is survived by a spouse, three sons and a daughter. His last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat this afternoon with the national honor. Nepal police presented a guard of honor to the late Dixit.
