KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed deep sorrow on the demise of noted literary figure Madan Mani Dixit today.

"I am deeply aggrieved of the passing away of eminent literary philosopher and practitioner. The literary world would ever remember his contributions", PM Oli tweeted today.

The Prime Minster also paid tribute to Dixit and expressed condolences to the grief-stricken families.

Ninety-seven-year old Dixit breathed his last this morning. His dead body has been kept at Himal Hospital in Kamalpokhari.

Consultation is being held on keeping his dead body on the premises of Nepal Academy for final tribute. His mortal body will be cremated today at Pashupati Aryaghat. Dixit was the former Vice-Chancellor of the Nepal Academy
