FNCCI urges CPN-Maoist to withdraw strikes

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has urged the agitating CPN-Maoist to withdraw its 10-day general strike scheduled to start from next week.



The CPN-Maoist led 33-party alliance has announced nationwide shutdown from Monday in its bid to thwart the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections scheduled for November 19.[break]



A delegation led by FNCCI president Suraj Vaidya met CPN-Maoist chairman Mohan Baidhya at the party´s headquarters Buddha Nagar to urge them to call off all form of protests ahead of the elections. On the occasion, FNCCI President Vaidya drew the attention of CPN-Maoist leaders toward the negative impact of bandas on the national economy and daily livelihood of common people.



CPN-Maoist chairman Baidhya said they resorted to enforcing bandas as the major political parties failed to create conducive environment for the agitating parties to participate in the polls.
