FM Gyawali to lead Nepali delegation in NAM ministerial conference

KATHMANDU, April 2: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali is leading Nepali delegation to the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on April 5-6.

KATHMANDU, April 2: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali is leading Nepali delegation to the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on April 5-6. According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), other members of the delegation will be Durga Prasad Bhattarai, permanent representative of Nepal to the United Nations in New York, and Counselor Surendra Thapa. The ministerial conference will be preceded by the senior officials' meeting on April 3-4. The conference will assess the progress since the last summit of the NAM and prepare for the upcoming summit to be held in 2019. The theme of this conference is "Promoting International Peace and Security for Sustainable Development". Nepal is a founding member of the non-aligned movement and its principles constitute important elements of Nepal's foreign policy, MoFA said. Minister Gywali is set to join Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli's delegation in India after participating in NAM ministerial meeting.
