General Manager Sharma said that the Flowflex Self-Test Kit has been recognized and enlisted by the Nepal government on October 6 following the decision of the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, to approve it on October 14.

This self-use test can be used by symptomatic individuals and immediate contacts of confirmed cases as per the work procedure introduced by the government. Users of this test do not need sample collection by healthcare personnel, according to the company.

The self-test kit is widely used in countries like South Korea, UK and India lately. The kit has already become popular even within Nepal as COVID-19 test results can be received within 15 minutes of the test, according to General Manager Sharma.

The COVID-19 Self-Test Kit Work Procedure has said that only those who are tested positive for the COVID-19 in this test need to further undergo PCR tests. However, if there are any symptoms of COVID-19, such persons also require undergoing further tests, according to the Work Procedures.

Skytouch Biomed, which has marketed the Flowflex Self Test Kit, has said that this method of testing COVID-19 is not only cheaper but also hassle-free. "We hope this will provide a better alternative to people to confirm if they are contracted with the COVID-19. This is not only cheaper but also hassles-free," he said. The market price of Flowflex self-test kit is Rs 750.
